Salary: Dependant on qualifications and experience

Job Type: Permanent, Full-time (however part-time hours may be considered)

We currently have an opportunity to join our growing team and to work closely with our R&D specialist, Paul Arnold. This opportunity would be well suited to someone who is either qualified, part qualified or qualified by experience in a practice-based Firm and is keen to specialise their career in research and development (R&D).

This role will give the successful candidate the path to continue to progress their accountancy career whilst specialising to become one of our R&D experts. You will be working with innovative businesses across a range of industries, providing trusted strategic R&D tax advice that has huge impact in helping to shape the future of business innovation within not just South Wales but wider regions.

Job Description:

  • Work collaboratively with the R&D Tax Partner and other members of staff
  • Provide technically excellent R&D tax credit claims for clients
  • Undertake specialist R&D work as assigned to you
  • Delivering technical reports and tax calculations
  • Get to know clients’ businesses and fully understand their R&D projects
  • Being a main point of contact for clients, specifically in relation to R&D queries
  • Carry out all aspects of work undertaken efficiently, thoroughly and in accordance with the firm’s procedures
  • Deliver information to clients in a timely manner and within budget
  • Manage client communication in an efficient and polite manner
  • Identify where there are shortfalls of work to cover chargeability and alert Managers
  • Communicate to management progress on workload and plan for efficient completion
  • Carry out other tasks that may be assigned to you in order to support the Firm and your colleagues

Person Specification:

Education and Experience

  • Qualified or part qualified (CTA/ACA/ACCA) or qualified by experience
  • Significant experience working within a regulated UK practice-based accountancy firm
  • Experience in providing advice and support to clients in relation to tax and research and development tax
  • Experience of preparing tax returns for companies, charities and partnerships
