The Welsh Government has made another £25,000 of additional support available for Covid-impacted businesses closed due to ongoing restrictions. The emergency package of support covers operating costs for July and August 2021. This support is for businesses closed as a result of continuing restrictions.

Those eligible for funding include those in the leisure and tourism sector and their supply chains. These also include travel agents and other hotspots affected by social distancing. Many of these businesses have been severely impacted by restrictions.

Eligible businesses are entitled to an additional payment of between £1,000 and £25,000. What they receive will depend on the business’ size, structure and circumstance. The Welsh Government expects this to cover the period up to the end of August 2021.

To qualify, businesses must show their turnover has reduced by more than 60% compared to the corresponding timeline in 2019.  All eligible businesses will need to apply for the funding.

The ERF supports businesses that are either:

  1. Forced to remain closed or unable to trade because of ongoing restrictions between 1st July 2021 and 31st August 2021.
  2. Event Space and attractions severely impacted by ongoing social distancing rules.
  3. Other businesses with >60% impact on Turnover as a direct result of ongoing restrictions since 1st of May and were unable to open indoors before the 17th May 2021.
  4. A supply chain business that generates 60% or more of its sales revenue from businesses falling into a), b) and/or c).

Any future Covid-19 funding which may be on offer for specific groups or sectors will take into account funding awarded under this round of the ERF. This may lead to an adjustment or deduction in any future schemes.

Applications for the ERF with a turnover of more than £85,000 are now open. Applications will close at midday on Tuesday 27 July 2021. The eligibility checker is open on the Business Wales website.
